The IPL-style football tournament for youngsters in Mumbai’s Vile Parle (East) was last season was contested by eight Franchise teams, who played each other in a round robin format.
The 7-a-side tournament is played over two halves of 15 minutes each with each team having a squad of at least 10 players with three Under-21 players allowed, but only if they were part of the PPL when they were in the U-19 while the rest of the squad is made of Under-19 boys, i.e. born on or after 1/1/1994.
The PPL started off as a small Mumbai suburban event with the participation of just over 80 players in its first season, mostly local. Although the event was carried out on a low scale, the concept was immediately a hit and now has been held over three seasons.
